Tennis field

TYPE OF PLAYING AREA & YOUR BENEFITS

The tennis court is made up of a flat, rectangular surface and can have a clay surface, artificial turf, plaid or hard surface.
Clay courts are suitable for both amateurs and professionals. Clay is also good for fitness as is a slower area, resulting in longer matches and more running and energy consumed.
Synthetic grass courts (or artificial turf) can be an excellent solution for a field of smaller size. They can be constructed in a very short time with low budget and low maintenance costs.
Tartan Tennis courts (polyurethane) provide a high degree of comfort and strength.
Additional advantages:

  • plaid floors reduce the risk of injury by absorbing shocks and skid
  • are beautiful and pleasant aesthetic
  • strong resistance to heat and light
  • support heavy loads
  • plaid acts as an inhibitor against mold and bacterial growth

Hard courts have a firm surface that allows movement and sharp turns. Firm surface means less slippage and sliding and allows players to effectively cover the court field. Compared to other surfaces, the ball bounces predictably and is easier to give shots and win the point quick.

INFRASTRUCTURE

A clay court is made using natural stone that is crushed to different levels. Usually they are constructed in five layers with larger particles at the bottom, falling to a thin layer on the surface. There are several types of clay, made up from a variety of materials. Some common ones are:

  • Red clay: Made of red brick dust. These surfaces are the most popular playing surfaces in the world and especially in Europe.
  • Green clay: Crushed basalt
  • Gray clay: natural gray loam
  • En Tout Cas: sandstone brick surface with a more granular appearance. In French, „En Tout Cas“ means “in any case” or “for any time”.

The tennis courts with synthetic grass (or artificial grass) usually have a base of concrete or asphalt, covered with a carpet of artificial grass with quartz sand filling. The sand keeps the synthetic carpet fixed and provides a safe playing surface while helping with water drainage.
Tennis courts with rubber sport surface (polyurethane) provide a high degree of comfort and strength.
The rubber sport surface poured onto the playing area in two layers: one black with 8-9 mm thick, and the second, a different color, depending on your preference and destination of the field, having a thickness of 3-8 mm.
Rubber tennis courts are characterized by elastic properties and good durability in time.
The rubber sport surface is based on a material consisting of fine granules of rubber and recycled fibers rubber bonded with a special polyurethane adhesive.
Hard courts surfaces are built using concrete or asphalt. These surfaces have a top layers of acrylic. It is recommended to have a rubber layer to reduce the impact and improve the surface hardness.
To achieve professional hard surface tennis courts, Atlas Sports collaborates with Courtsol, a supplier of quality acrylic paints, certified by ITF and produced in France. Courtsol acrylic surfaces have many advantages:
