Unrivaled Sports Records in History

There are sports records that are unrivaled. Being so difficult to break, it sometimes took several decades for them to even be matched.
Atlas Sport presents the most difficult records to break:
- Lance Armstrong won the Tour de France 7 times in a row. Between 1999 and 2005, the cyclist, after overcoming cancer, also won all organized competitions. Since then, no one has achieved such a performance.
- Richard Petty is the best all-time NASCAR driver. He won 200 races. In 1967 alone, he was victorious in 27 races.
- Aleksandr Karelin from Russia has 887 Greco-Roman wrestling victories. He remained undefeated for 13 years.
- Esther Vergeer from the Netherlands was the world leader in wheelchair tennis between 1999 and 2013. She won 42 Grand Slam tournaments and 7 Paralympic titles. After recording 470 consecutive victories, she retired in 2013.
- Mike Tyson won all 22 professional matches he fought. 21 were by KO. This was before he turned 20.
- 36 red cards in a single football match. In 2012, between two teams from Argentina. After a general brawl, the referee showed red cards to the substitutes as well.
- 47.6 seconds in a 400-meter race. A record that has belonged to Marita Koch since 1985.
- Swimmer Michael Phelps won 23 Olympic gold medals.
- The author of the most powerful shot is Ronny Heberson Furtado de Araujo, a player from Sporting Lisbon. The ball’s speed reportedly exceeded 210 kilometers per hour, with the defender managing to score.
- The longest men’s tennis match lasted over 11 hours. It spanned three days and took place at Wimbledon in 2010. John Isner and Nicolas Mahut played 183 games.
